Violet Sweet Shoppe moving into former Mae’s Cafe space

by | Sep 22, 2014

Violet Sweet Shoppe, a vegan bakery at University Village, is opening a second location in the southern half of the former Mae’s Cafe space at 6410 Phinney Ave. N.
Owner Crystal Rice tells me that she and her husband, Michael Chinn, opened their original store about 1-1/2 years ago to great success. But since they live in Ballard, they wanted to open another location closer to home.
Rice says they hope to open the first week of October, with a Grand Opening costume party on Oct. 18. The shop will be open daily from 11 a.m to 7 p.m., closed on Tuesdays.

The Phinney space will specialize in organic candy and small batch chocolate bars. We will sell our famous Salted Peanut Butter Cups, Pisa Cups (filled with chocolate mousse), and of course, shortbread cookies. Customers will be able to order cakes and tarts and have them ready for pick up the next day. There is no kitchen at the candy store so the bakery will remain the production location. As always, we are a vegan company so both stores will stay egg and dairy free. The candy store will have a good selection of gluten free items, as well.

You can follow Violet Sweet Shoppe on Facebook.
Thanks to Margaux for the tip!
