Summer Meals program starts next week to feed kids in need

The Washington State Summer Food Service Program, also called Summer Meals, is once again providing free meals and snacks to all children and teenagers 18 years and younger during the summer months. No proof of income, address or citizenship is required.
Meal sites are at local schools and playgrounds. The following sites are in or near Greenwood:

  • Sandel Playground, 9053 1st Ave. NW; Monday-Friday, 12-1 p.m. for lunch and 3-3:30 p.m. for snack. June 25-Aug. 22.
  • Viewlands Elementary, 10525 3rd Ave. NW; Monday-Friday, 8:30-9 a.m. for breakfast and 12-12:30 p.m. for lunch. June 30-Aug. 22.
  • Broadview-Thompson Elementary, 13052 Greenwood Ave. N.; Monday-Friday, 8:30-9 a.m. for breakfast and 12-12:30 p.m. for lunch. Aug. 18-22.
  • Bitter Lake Community Center, 13035 Linden Ave. N.; Monday-Friday, 12-1 p.m. for lunch and 3-4 p.m. for snack. June 25-Aug. 22.
