Phinney Books, which took over the former Santoro’s Books at 7405 Greenwood Ave. N., will hold its grand opening from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. this Saturday, June 21.

They’ll have refreshments; kids story times at 10:30 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.; grownup story times throughout the day, featuring Seattle writers Maria Semple, George Meyer, Claire Dederer and Josh Feit; and a 10 percent discount on everything in the store all day long.

Owner Tom Nissley says visitors also can fill out their own “shelftalkers” (the slips of paper on bookstore shelves with notes from booksellers) to describe a book they would recommend.

After Saturday, Phinney Books’ regular hours will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 12-5 p.m. Sunday.
