Potential legal pot store locations in Phinney-Greenwood

by | May 3, 2014

Two winning locations in the Liquor Control Board’s lottery to open 21 legal pot stores in Seattle are on the edges of the PhinneyWood neighborhood.

And if some of the top 21 applicants fail to qualify, three neighborhood locations in the high 20s in the lottery could get an opportunity to open up shop.

In order for that to happen, some of the top 21 applicants must fail the more rigorous process to actually open. To get a license, the applicants must get approval of their financial and operations plans, pass criminal background checks, build their stores and pass a final inspection. If that doesn’t happen, the Liquor Control Board will start working its way down the lottery list to reach the 21 store limit set for Seattle.

The two closest locations in the top 21 are:

#3 in the lottery: GG Gourmet Enterprises, 9550 Aurora Ave. N

#13: Bud Bouquets, 817 NW 85th St., which currently houses Blend Herbal Spa

817 NW 85th St Seattle

If at least five of the top 21 fail to qualify, Phinney-Greenwood could have pot stores in its future. The three locations outside the top 21 are:

#26 in the lottery: Paradoxical, 323 N 105th St.

#27: Herb’s House, which now runs a medical marijuana clinic and cafe at 716 NW 65th St.

#29: Green Connection Northwest, 417 NW 65th St.

According to The Seattle Times, state officials are set to start issuing licenses starting in early July.

Our sister site, My Ballard, has a story about five pot store locations in Ballard making the top 21. And a story by our news partners The Seattle Times, goes into more detail about the lottery across the rest of the city and state.
