Seattle P.I.: Lawsuit filed against state regulators after second infant dies at Greenwood daycare

by | Jan 16, 2014

The Seattle P.I. has a detailed story today of a Greenwood in-home daycare where two infants died 12 years apart. The latest death happened last May, when a 4-month-old girl was found dead in a crib with loose bedding. Her death was classified as SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).
P.I. Reporter Levi Pulkkinen writes that the parents have filed a lawsuit against state regulators, claiming they knew of multiple violations over the years at First Nest on North 88th Street, including the death of an infant boy in 2001. The parents are testifying today in Olympia in support of House Bill 2165, which would mandate thorough reviews of fatalities at daycare centers.
