The Seattle Public Library, United Way of King County and the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) have joined efforts to offer free tax preparation services at 10 libraries. The closest locations to Phinney-Greenwood are the Broadview Branch, at 12755 Greenwood Ave. N., and the Ballard Branch, at 5614 22nd Ave. N.W.

Trained volunteers will answer questions and help prepare personal (not business) tax returns. Drop-in assistance is on a first come, first served basis.

Tax assistance is available at the Ballard Library starting Feb. 3 (through April 14), from 3:30-7 p.m. Mondays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays; and at the Broadview Branch from Feb. 1 through April 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
