The Seattle Area German American School (SAGA) is moving from Green Lake to north Greenwood/Broadview, beginning this fall. SAGA had been leasing space in the John Marshall Building for the last three years, but Seattle Public Schools needs the space back.
According to the press release, SAGA has signed a 10-year lease to occupy the former home of Bethel Presbyterian Church at 11010 Greenwood Ave. N., an 18,000-square-foot space with classrooms, gym and offices.
“We are excited to plant our roots in this neighborhood and we desire to be active members of the community,” Board President Michael Brandstetter said in the press release.
SAGA offers preschool, pre-K, and Kindergarten through 3rd grade, plus weekly after-school programs for children in K-5th grade. They also offer a parent-tot class. All teachers are native German speakers. The school has more than 70 students in its preschool and elementary programs, and more than 40 students in weekly after-school programs.
Applications for the 2013-14 school year are currently being accepted.
