Greenwood Food Bank’s ‘Turkey Drive’ starts today

The Greenwood Food Bank wants to provide 400 turkeys to neighborhood families in need this Thanksgiving. The food bank launched its three-week “Turkey Drive” today, asking for donations of turkeys or money.

“There are many families in need across Greenwood, Phinney, and throughout North Seattle,” Brandy King, VOA’s Development and Outreach Manager, said in a press release. “We’re doing our best to help these families – many of them single parent homes – have a fulfilling Thanksgiving meal. Greenwood and Phinney Ridge are filled with generous-hearted folks. It’s a great way to show this community’s support for one another.”

Donations can be dropped off at the Volunteers of America Greenwood Food Bank, 9041 Greenwood Ave. N., from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; and from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays, now through Nov. 20.

Contributions can also be made online. For more information, call the Greenwood Food Bank at 206-782-6731.
