Luminata, live music, farmers market and bingo in Phinney-Greenwood this weekend

Here’s a roundup of some events happening in Greenwood-Phinney and nearby this weekend. Check our Events calendar any time for more.

Phinney Farmers Market from 3-7 p.m. in the lower parking lot of the Phinney Neighborhood Association, 6532 Phinney Ave. N.

The 12th annual Luminata: Lantern Parade starts at 7 p.m. Friday at Green Lake, to celebrate the Autumn Equinox. It’s sponsored by the Fremont Arts Council and begins at the old Aqua Theatre at the south end of the lake. Two bands, cider, cookies and other treats; bring your own lanterns, puppets, costumes, etc., but lanterns also will be sold at the event.

Couth Buzzard Books Espresso Buono Café, 8310 Greenwood Ave. N., presents Choroloco Brazilian Folk Music Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, and What’s The Word Cabaret! At 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

This is opening weekend of Taproot Theatre’s latest play, “Gaudy Night.”

The Greenwood Food Bank is hosting a car wash from 12-3 p.m. Saturday, at 9041 Greenwood Ave. N. Suggested donation of $5-$10.

Razzi’s Pizzeria, 8523 Greenwood Ave. N., is hosting Bingo & Pizza to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society from 1-4 p.m. Sunday. Cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children to pre-register (call Kerri 206-795-2712 or email [email protected] is $5 more at the door.) Prizes include gift certificates to The Rock, Qdoba, Domino’s, Garlic Jim’s, Glassique, Mr. Gyro’s, The Olive & Grape, Naked City Brewery & Taphouse. There’s also a silent auction. Proceeds go to Team in Training.

Don’t forget the intersection of North 85th Street and Aurora Avenue North is closed this weekend so Seattle Department of Transportation can finish up paving work. Lane closures begin at 8 p.m. Friday, with all lanes closed by 10 p.m. They’ll reopen by 6 a.m. Monday.

Traffic will be detoured on Aurora from the north at North 105th Street and from the south at Green Lake Way North. The eastbound closure on North 85th Street between Aurora Avenue North and Wallingford Avenue North remains. The eastbound lanes on 85th between Greenwood and Aurora will also be closed with traffic detoured to North 80th Street from Greenwood Avenue North to I-5.

That means Metro bus Route 358 will be detoured off Aurora in both directions between North 90th Street and Winona Avenue North.

Heading toward Aurora Village, it will travel instead via Winona Av N, West and East Green Lake Dr N, Wallingford Av N, N 90th St and Aurora Av N back to its regular route.

Heading toward downtown Seattle, it will travel instead via N 90th St, Wallingford Av N, East and West Green Lake Dr N and Winona Av N to its regular route.
