by | Sep 7, 2012

It seems like kind of a quiet weekend in the neighborhood, as school kids get back into their routines. Here are a few events happening in or near our neighborhood. Check our Events calendar any time for more.
The Phinney Farmers Market is from 3-7 p.m. in the lower parking lot of the Phinney Neighborhood Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N. Fresh fruit, veggies, bread, soup, flowers and more.
The Phinney Center also is hosting a blood drive from 1-7 p.m. today in the Blue Building. And it’s hosting its annual Mystery Book Exchange from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Room 3 of the Blue Building. Bring in your gently-used mystery books to trade, or purchase paper backs for $1 and hardbacks for $2.
Couth Buzzard Books Espresso Buono Café, 8310 Greenwood Ave. N., presents Jazz First Fridays with Ronin 3 and guests at 7:30 tonight; then Jill Cohn, Jean Mann and Fleur Jack in concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Both are free; food and drink available for purchase.
The Puget Sound Saxophone Quartet performs at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Music Center of the Northwest, 901 N. 96th St. Free.
Just outside our neighborhood, the Northgate Community Center at 10510 5th Ave. NE. will host a back-to-school concert by Caspar Babypants from 6-8 p.m. There will even be bouncy houses and other kid fun. Plus, it’s free.
The Iron Girl 5k and 10k Race will happen at Green Lake on Sunday morning. So be aware of extra traffic and lots of pedestrians. Metro bus route 48 will be rerouted off East Green Lake Dr. N. Check Metro’s website for more information.
