Pedestrian critically injured after being hit by car on Aurora

Seattle Police say a man suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car on Aurora Avenue during the evening commute.
From the SPD Blotter:

An adult male pedestrian sustains life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car on Aurora Avenue. Tonight at approximately 5:54 p.m. officers responded to North 59th Street and Aurora Avenue North for reports of a vehicle/pedestrian collision with injuries.
Preliminary investigation indicates that an adult male pedestrian was crossing Aurora Avenue North at North 59th Street. At the same time an adult male driver was traveling southbound on Aurora Avenue North in his Ford Mustang. The two collided in the southbound lanes of Aurora Avenue North.
SFD medics responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded to the scene and continue to actively investigate.
Aurora Avenue northbound is completely open to all traffic.
Aurora Avenue southbound is completely shut down and traffic is being diverted. Estimated road closure is approximately two hours.
