Hard to believe it’s time to start thinking about sending the kids back to school. And that means that several organizations are holding school supplies drives for needy kids.
The Phinney Neighborhood Association is holding a school supplies drive for students at Whitman Middle School and foster children served by Treehouse. Donations can be dropped off at the PNA’s Blue Building, 6532 Phinney Ave. N., through mid-September.
Whitman’s wish list:
- flash drives
- two-inch white binders
- graph paper
- college-ruled notebook paper and dividers
- composition books
- ballpoint pens
- highlighters, pencils and erasers
- colored pencil and felt-tip pen sets
- post-it notes and index cards.
Treehouse’s wish list:
- New jeans or pants, sweatshirts, jackets, socks and underwear
- Other back-to-school basics for boys or girls age 5-18.
Bartell Drugs‘ “School Tools for Kids in Need” runs through Aug. 26 at all 58 locations, including Greenwood at 120 N. 85th St.
Donated school supplies will help re-stock World Vision’s Teacher Resource Center in Fife, where teachers of students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch programs can shop for free supplies for their students.
