SDOT gearing up to begin work on final phases of 85th Street repaving project

Seattle Department of Transportation is moving into the final phase of its nearly year-long repaving project of North/NW 85th Street.

This Thursday and Friday, SDOT will pave the center lanes of North 85th Street between Greenwood and Aurora avenues, as long as it’s not raining. Driveways to businesses and residences will be affected for a few hours while the asphalt cools. (If you have an issue with access, call the project’s 24-hour construction hotline at 206-496-9993.)

Pedestrians are not allowed to cross the hot asphalt for an hour, to let it cool. Eastbound 85th remains closed between Greenwood and Aurora avenues; traffic is detoured to North 80th Street.

SDOT plans to begin work on Phase 4 of the project, between Aurora and Wallingford avenues, on Friday, Aug. 3, and on Phase 5, between Wallingford Avenue North and I-5, on Aug. 10. Work on both those phases will overlap.
