West Woodland Elementary holding blood and bone marrow registry drive on Monday

by | Jul 12, 2012

West Woodland Elementary, 5601 4th Ave. NW, is holding a blood and bone marrow registry drive, in support of teacher Jan Dalbey, who needs a bone marrow transplant.

Those wishing to donate blood need to sign up for a spot from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday using this Google document.

Blood donors must be at least 18 years old, weigh more than 110 pounds, and be in good health (no colds or the flu). Teens who are 16-17 years old can donate with parental consent.

No registration is needed to sign up for the bone marrow registry. A simple check swab and some paperwork is all it takes. You can read a list of bone marrow donor FAQs. If you have other questions, you can call 1-888- 999-6743.

Volunteers are needed to help at the event: bringing muffins or other food, collecting donations for Puget Sound Blood Center, and staying with blood donors as they recover. You can sign up for those spots on the Google document as well.

If you have questions about your eligibility to donate, call Donor Scheduling at 425-453-4510 or email [email protected].
