Intersection of 85th & Aurora to be closed again this weekend

by | Jul 10, 2012

Seattle Department of Transportation plans to close the intersection of Aurora Avenue North and North 85th Street for the second time this coming weekend. Crews laid down about half the new concrete at that intersection last weekend. After the rest of the concrete is placed this weekend, crews will need to close the intersection a third time to resurface the approaches to the intersection. That third closure has not been set yet.

The intersection will be closed to traffic from 10 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday. Work will continue around the clock. Lanes will begin closing at 8 p.m. on Friday, with all lanes on Aurora Avenue North closed by 10 p.m.

Aurora traffic will be detoured from the north at North 105th Street and from the south at Green Lake Way North. Local access will be provided to North 85th Street. One westbound lane on 85th Street will be maintained through the intersection; eastbound closures on 85th Street between Greenwood Avenue North and Aurora Avenue North remain in effect, with eastbound traffic detoured to North 80th Street.

Like last weekend, the closure is going to create a real mess, so avoid the area if possible, or allow plenty of extra time.

And remember that all businesses in the construction area remain open, even if they are hard to get to!
