Wildlife at Piper Village bog

by | Apr 24, 2012

Kate sent us this photo of a heron catching a fish in the small bog on the north end of Piper Village, at 87th and 1st Avenue NW.

I saw this cool heron and a couple of ducks there. Then I saw the heron go fishing in the little pond that’s part of the restoration there and he came up with a nice one and swallowed it whole. The fish is a yellow perch as identified by Seattle Public Utilities’ Julie Crittenden.
