Seattle Department of Transportation will close the intersection of Greenwood Avenue North and North 80th Street this weekend as part of a major repaving project of Greenwood Avenue North.
The intersection will close at 6 p.m. Friday and reopen at 5 a.m. Monday.

The intersection closures extend from N 79th St to N 81st St on Greenwood Ave N, and from Dayton Ave N to 1st Ave NW on N 80th Street. Drivers should follow signed detours via N 65th St, 3rd Ave NW and N 85th St.
What to expect during the intersection closure:

  • Crews will work 24-hours to complete the roadway removal and reconstruction
  • Work will be noisy at times; concrete breaking will end by 10 p.m. and start after 8 a.m. on weekends to limit noise impacts to nearby neighbors
  • Pedestrian access to residences and businesses will be maintained at all times
  • Metro Route #5 riders can expect transit detours and stop closures; to sign up for transit alerts visit https://metro.kingcounty.gov/up/rr/reroutes.html

Little monsters out trick-or-treating during the Greenwood-Phinney Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Safe Trick or Treat from 12-3 on Saturday will need to pay extra attention near that intersection. SDOT will have extra staff on hand to help people safely navigate that intersection.
Metro Route 5 buses will be rerouted off Greenwood Avenue North in both directions between North 67th Street and North 85th Street, onto 8th Avenue NW, during the intersection closure.

During this time, Route 5 heading towards downtown Seattle will travel instead via N 85th St, 8th Av NW, NW 65th St, Greenwood Av N, N 67 St and Phinney Av N to its regular route serving all posted bus stops and temp stops along the reroute.
