by | Oct 11, 2011

Assemble Gallery & Studio, 7406 Greenwood Ave. N., is hosting author Leanne Prain at 6 p.m. on Tuesday to celebrate the release of her new book, “Hoopla! The Art of Unexpected Embroidery.”

The free event includes a visual talk on “yarn bombing” and “subversive craft,” and an embroidery workshop based on one of the projects in the book called “Photo Feelism,” which encourages people to add a playful element to photographs by stitching in new elements, like adding a moustache to a baby, or a sea monster to a lake scene. There’s also a chance to win an embroidery door prize.
Prain is also the author of “Yarn Bombing: The Art of Crochet and Knit Graffiti.”
