Woman sees naked man masturbating in Phinney Ridge driveway this morning

by | Sep 9, 2011

A Phinney Ridge woman, who didn’t want her name used, said she came across a disturbing sight around 6:50 a.m. today near the intersection of NW 73rd Street and 1st Avenue NW.

In the driveway…there was a man medium height, dark brown hair, shiny sunglasses – probably in his 20s or 30s lying naked on the ground with his shorts around his ankles masturbating. He was obviously waiting for someone to come by. And he had obviously just started – I could tell. He was just a couple of feet away from me and staring at me with a disgusting goofy grin. Anyway, I screamed and ran and reported it to the Seattle police, but not until 2 hours later. I was so shocked I didn’t know what to do right away. They were pretty disinterested and said they’d call me back for a full report later.
I think the neighborhood should be on alert. What disturbs me is that is the block where I have seen several young pre-teen/teenage girls playing outside whenever I walk by.

The woman just wrote back with a little more info:

(Seattle Police) called me back after I wrote you and they took a full report. They said they take these things pretty seriously and anyone who sees anything else like that should call immediately.

Has anyone else encountered this man?
Update: We received an email from another woman reporting a similar incident:

The same thing happened to me last Spring… I thought the man was a bit older, but the location was way too similar to be a coincidence. He was near 77th & 1st. I did call the police immediately and followed him a bit, but the police didn’t show up soon enough and I got nervous. I don’t remember the exact date, but it was a Friday around 9am and I remember being glad that it wasn’t a child that encountered him – since the location was so close to St. John’s and it was around the start of school.
