Possible burglary at empty house on 85th Street leads to mental health evaluation

by | Jul 12, 2011

Seattle Police were called to what appears to be an abandoned house in the 100 block of NW 85th Street on Sunday afternoon after receiving a bizarre call from someone who reported “he had a dream about a child molester in an abandoned house,” Officer Mark Jamieson tells us.

When officers arrived, they found a man in the bushes, sweating heavily, bleeding, and swinging a large pipe. He dropped the pipe when officers ordered him to.
Officers checked the house and found no one living inside. Ofc. Jamieson said most of the windows were broken and there was blood throughout the house, leading them to believe the man had broken into the house.

The man was rambling and incoherent, and appeared to be on drugs. He had cuts on his hands and arms, so they called the fire department to treat his injuries. The man was then transported to Harborview Medical Center for a mental health evaluation.
Officers were unable to locate the house’s owner.
