Greenwood Food Bank to host some Neighborhood Service Center services

When the Neighborhood Service Center at 8515 Greenwood Ave. N. closed on Dec. 30 due to city budget cuts, that left a number of groups without a place to meet, including a twice-weekly free legal clinic. But, the Volunteers of America’s Community Resource Center, home of the Greenwood Food Bank, at 9041 Greenwood Ave. N., has stepped in.
The CRC will host the legal clinics on Monday and Tuesday nights. Volunteer lawyers from the King County Bar Association will use the CRC’s meeting room and individual offices, basically wherever they can find the room to meet with clients, explained Lori Drabant, Volunteers of America Regional Vice President for Development and Communication.
“We want to have our doors open for the community,” Drabant said.
The CRC also will soon host computers with free Internet service to the community, another service previously provided by the Neighborhood Service Center.
