Monthly Artwalk is Friday night

by | Jun 11, 2010

Last month was the big annual Phinney-Greenwood Artwalk, but don’t forget that the monthly Art Up Artwalk continues on Friday night from 6-9 p.m. Three-dozen businesses along Phinney and Greenwood avenues (and a few a little off the beaten path) are hosting artists in all kinds of mediums.
At Urban Light Studios inside the Greenwood Collective at 8537 Greenwood Ave. N. they’re hosting a touring art installation called Free Life Center. Portland artists Seth Neefus and Mark Warren Jacques built a small, one-room structure from salvaged materials. They move the structure into the art gallery and then host musical performances, workshops, drawing parties, etc. inside it.
Avanti Art & Design at 7317 Greenwood Ave. N. has a unique show called “30/30,” which features 30 artists showing 30 pieces of work in various mediums, but each piece is no larger than four inches square.
At the new vegan shoe store The Chocolate Shoe Box, 7410 Greenwood Ave. N., they’ll have paintings that portray nature, peace and Buddhism by Pearl Haika.
Couth Buzzard Books at 8310 Greenwood Ave. N. will show paintings, photography & sculpture by Julian Hawkins, Shelli Young, Jan Caps, Connie Nelson, TV-TommyVision, Jess Angelo & Shawn Johnson.
Sugarcomb Salon at 780 N. 73rd St. features cartoon artist Brandon Baker and pastel artist Erin Wheeler.
