Support New Beginnings’ efforts to end domestic violence

by | Apr 28, 2010

New Beginnings, a Phinney/Greenwood-area non-profit that provides shelter and advocacy for battered women and children, is having its annual gala and auction May 22. “Empower Change” will be emceed by KING 5’s Margaret Larson and is at the Hyatt at Olive 8, 1635 8th Ave., in downtown Seattle.

New Beginnings serves the greater Seattle area with comprehensive services to support survivors of domestic abuse. Some of the locations are confidential, such as their emergency shelter and transitional housing locations.
Our work is not only about empowering survivors. We also raise awareness about domestic violence and help foster social institutions and communities where abuse is not tolerated. New Beginnings provides opportunities to work towards social change through volunteer opportunities, community education, professional training, media campaigns, and youth education groups.

Auction items include weekend getaways, tickets for the arts and sporting events and a variety of one-of-a-kind experiences. Tickets are $140, or $200 for VIP; a table is $1,250. You can buy tickets online or call 206-926-3041.
Funds from the auction also support New Beginnings’ 24-hour Help Line: 206-522-9472.
