Pinwheel ‘wind farm’ coming to Green Lake

by | Apr 15, 2010

To celebrate Earth Day, CoolMom.org and The Sierra Club are inviting parents and kids to Green Lake to help create a “mini renewable energy station” comprised of hundreds of colorful pinwheels.
They’ll set up near the Green Lake playground by the community center from 12-3 p.m. on Saturday Sunday.

Volunteers will be on-hand with supplies for making and installing more pinwheels throughout the afternoon. Passersby will be encouraged to create their own pinwheels to add to the wind farm. They can also learn about the Beyond Coal campaign, which aims to make Washington the first coal-free state in the U.S. by closing down the TransAlta coal plant and transitioning to clean energy sources and green jobs.

You can also find a pinwheel template on their website.
