SeattleCrime.com reports that a man was stabbed twice in the hand on Jan. 3 after refusing to pay cash for a food stamp card that didn’t work. The incident happened at the 7-11 on Phinney Avenue North and North 59th Street.
The man told police a friend had called him earlier in the day and asked if he was interested in trading some cash for an EBT food stamp card. The buyer then met up with his friend—who, the report says, was accompanied by a “large male’—at the 7-11 near the Woodland Park Zoo.
The man buying the EBT card wanted to make sure it worked, so he went into the 7-11 and tried to buy a bottle of A-1 steak sauce. However, the card didn’t work. The buyer told his friend and the “large male” that he wasn’t going to buy the card and got into his vehicle. The report says the “large man” walked up to the buyer’s car, forced down his window, opened the door and punched him in the face.
The buyer started kicking the large man, who jumped on top of him, pulled out a knife, and stabbed him in the hand. The buyer handed over $50 and his assailant fled.
