Couth Buzzard reopens with Espresso Buono

by | Dec 16, 2009

LS sent us some pictures of the new Couth Buzzard Books Espresso Buono Cafe, which opened its doors at 8310 Greenwood Ave. N. at 7 a.m. today.

I was their first book customer, but someone beat me to the coffee bar. People have been wondering if the old credit logs were maintained. They found mine – an excellent sign!

The new Couth will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week. Penny Wight, the owner of Espresso Buono (which still has its original location in Lynnwood), told us last week that her menu would not be extensive, but she would have homemade soups and sandwiches, such as paninis, plus assorted pastries.
And Phil just sent us some more pictures. Check out the retro window display.

And here’s Ken’s Market founder Ken Giles, who used to be the Couth’s landlord, stopping by to wish Couth co-owner Gerry Lovchik good luck.

Phil also tells us that the cool old-school light fixtures visible in the first picture by LS were actually taken down by the building owners 30 years ago.

Store owner Gerry says when they heard a bookstore would be leasing the space they brought these classic “schoolhouse” lights back!
