Celebrate Thanksgiving with neighbors and PNA

by | Nov 12, 2009

Every year the Phinney Center hosts a lovely Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. Everyone is invited, you just bring a dish to share. The PNA provides the turkey and dressing.
This year’s PNA Thanksgiving dinner is at 4 p.m. on Nov. 26 at the Greenwood Senior Center, 525 N 85th St.

Turkey and all the trimmings without all of the work and hassle and an opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving with friends and neighbors – that’s the allure of the annual community Thanksgiving potluck dinner sponsored by the Phinney Neighborhood Association. For some, it’s become a holiday tradition.

To make sure there’s enough turkey, please call the PNA at (206) 783-2244 by Nov. 24 to reserve a spot. Let them know how many people will be attending, what dish you’ll be bringing, and which task you would like to help with (set up, clean up, etc.)
We attended the dinner several years ago and had a great time getting to know neighbors, and joining in the group sing-along!
And here’s a little tidbit about the GSC that we just discovered – you can forgoe your own holiday baking and buy your holiday pies from the GSC. Every Wednesday from now through Dec. 23, the Senior Center will have pies for sale: fruit, lemon meringue, holiday favorites like pumpkin and pecan, and some specialty pies, will be available to order and pick up at the GSC. Prices range from $7-$12 depending on the size and flavor. There’s also a selection of small, individual-size pies.
