Missing a green parakeet?

by | Sep 17, 2009

We’re no bird experts, but that’s what we think we saw this morning near the corner of NW 73rd Street and 7th Avenue NW.

I managed to snap a fuzzy pic at a distance with a cellphone camera – see if you can spot the bird in this picture. I’d guess its wingspan is about a foot. We know that because while reaching for a real camera, it flew a couple feet over our heads, banged into a window at low speed, then fluttered off, disappearing into the morning fog before I could get a better picture.

It’s not quite a Loch Ness Monster or Chupacabra sighting (or golden pheasant or cougar, for that matter), but we thought it was quite unusual.
