Greenwood Garage Sale Day is Sept. 12

by | Aug 21, 2009

The humongous Greenwood Garage Sale Day is coming up on Sept. 12. More than 150 homes are expected to participate in the 16th annual event, which draws thousands of people to the neighborhood to shop.
In the past, Garage Sale Day was always in April. But three years of terrible weather and conflicts with other events meant it was pushed to September this year.
Participants pay a fee of $20 for PNA members and $25 for non-members. The Phinney Neighborhood Association takes care of advertising, compiles a guide and map of all sales, and gives you a sign for your yard.
Garage Sale Day runs from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. There’s also a Flea Market and Tool Swap in the PNA’s lower parking lot, and the 65th St Co-op’s sale in the Center’s Community Hall.
Applications are available at the PNA and online. Applications must be returned to the PNA by Sept. 1 to be included in the Garage Sale Guide. The guide will be available online Sept. 9 online. Printed versions will be available Sept. 11 at the Phinney Neighborhood Center, Greenwood Senior Center, Greenwood Library, and the Greenwood Neighborhood Service Center.
For leftovers, Goodwill Industries will again host a donation station in the lower parking lot on Saturday, Sept. 12, 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 13, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Goodwill can only accept items that are reusable and in good condition – no computers, televisions, mattresses, toxic materials or broken appliances. Furniture donations should be taken directly to the Ballard Goodwill Store at 6400 8th Ave NW.
