Literary roadshow comes to the zoo

July 8th, 2009 · No Comments

A PBS television series designed to help children ages 3-7 develop a love of reading, is taking its lessons on the road. This is the third annual roadshow for “Between the Lions,” which will perform four shows at Woodland Park Zoo on Saturday, July 18.

Cleo and Lionel…the literacy loving lions, will educate and entertain fans – small and tall – with live, interactive shows. Cleo and Lionel will bring the television series to life, with shows that invite children to participate as they sing about the sounds of letters, play with words, and read along with the Lions.

“Between the Lions” is a multimedia educational initiative created to help children ages three to seven acquire beginning reading skills and a love of reading. Built around a curriculum that incorporates the most recent scientific research in literacy instruction, each episode features an engaging variety of animation, puppetry, live action, and music.

The shows are at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. inside Zoomazium. It’s free with regular zoo admission or membership.
