Penguins on the March this summer

by | Apr 20, 2009

To celebrate the Woodland Park Zoo’s new Humboldt Penguin exhibit (which opens May 2), the Zoo is teaming up with The Greenwood Collective for the Penguins on the March art project.
Artists will decorate 22-inch fabricated penguins, which will then “migrate” through Seattle neighborhoods before arriving at The Greenwood Collective during the July 10th monthly art walk for a silent auction to benefit the zoo’s field conservation projects.
The Call for Artists lasts through April 30. Artists of all ages and experience levels are invited. Artists can submit online. Painting parties (including workshops for amateurs) will be held at The Greenwood Collective in May, and the “march” will kickoff in June – including migrating neighborhood displays in Greenwood-Phinney, Ballard and Fremont.
