State gives PNA final check to buy Allen School

by | Mar 3, 2009

On Sunday the State of Washington presented its final $650,000 check towards its $4.3 million commitment to help the Phinney Neighborhood Association buy the old John B. Allen School, which has been the PNA’s rented home for 25 years.

That’s PNA Executive Director Ed Medeiros on the left, with his arm around State Representative Mary Lou Dickerson, who’s holding the check. Speaker of the State House of Representatives Frank Chopp is third from right.
The PNA officially purchased the two buildings and land from the Seattle School District last week, and is in the middle of a $12 million capital campaign to pay for the site and make a number of improvements, including making the buildings ADA accessible.
