Metro fares to increase Sunday

by | Jan 26, 2009

Most Metro Transit fares are increasing by 25 cents beginning this Sunday, Feb. 1. A two-zone trip during peak-commute times will cost $2.50, a one-zone trip $2, and the off-peak fare will be $1.75. New monthly passes also will reflect the increase. Youth and senior/disabled fares won’t change.
Metro says it’s increasing fares to help it overcome a significant budget shortfall due to record fuel prices last year and falling sales tax revenues.
