Phinney man to channel the King at Elvis Invitationals this weekend

by | Jan 21, 2009

Phinney/Green Lake resident Jimmy Peschel will be communing with the King of Rock n’ Roll’s spirit at the 12th annual Elvis Invitationals Saturday night at the all-ages Club Motor downtown. Here’s Jimmy with his daughter, Cassidy, and son, Shane, along with Priscilla Tribute Artist Marlow Harris at the 2007 Invitationals:

Thirty amateur Elvis impersonators will perform, plus professional Elvis impersonator Steve Adams. Kentucky Rain will provide live music for each performer. Jimmy first performed at the Elvis Invitationals in 2005. Here he and Shane get their groove on:

Here’s what Jimmy tells us about being an Elvis Tribute Artist:

I performed in the 2005 and 2006 Elvis Invitationals and finished in the top 5 (out of 25+) both years. I do have fun with my Elvis outfit at other times of the year. My son and I wore our outfits for the costume party on the closing day of Alpental ski area last year, I wore it luging in Canada, I’ve combined it with a Santa suit to become Santelvis, and I combined it with cold weather rain gear for a Stories of the Sea contest in Ballard where I billed myself as El-fish. It is all good fun, that the public really seems to connect with the Elvis persona.

Tickets are $12 in advance at Brown Paper Tickets or $15 at the door. For photos of past Elvis Invitationals, check out their flickr pool.
