Holiday happenings in the neighborhood this month

The annual PNA Winter Festival & Crafts Fair is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday at the Phinney Center, 6532 Phinney Ave. N., in both the Blue and Brick buildings, with 115 hand-picked artists and crafts vendors, continuous live entertainment in both buildings, plus lunch items and baked goods. Admission is $2 for PNA members, $4 general. Please also bring non-perishable food for the food bank.

Woodland Park Zoo presents its annual WildLights 5:30-8:30 p.m. nightly through Jan. 1 with more than 600,000 lights, carolers, reindeer, Santa and more.

Green Lake Pathway of Lights, 4:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10. Enjoy music and refreshments at several sites while admiring thousands of luminaria around the lake. Free but donations of non-perishables will be collected for FamilyWorks Food Bank.

North Pole on the Ridge Food & Toy Drive from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, at Illumination Learning Studio. Selfies with Santa, holiday crafts, card and ornament making, face painting, gelato, cocoa, cider and treats. Free but donations of non-perishable holiday foods and new, unwrapped and non-violent toys are appreciated.

Caroling Under Gary’s Canopy at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at Gary’s Greenwood Auto Repair at 7418 Greenwood Ave. N. Fire pit, hot cider and songsheets for a singalong. Free, but a hat will be passed for donations to the Seattle Times Fund for the Needy.

PhinneyWood Phestivus turns our monthly Art Up PhinneyWood Artwalk into a full night of holiday festivities with a free trolley running up and down the main drag so neighbors can check out the 200 LED metal-framed monkeys in windows of businesses and residences and see more Artwalk venues. Phestivus runs from 6 p.m. to midnight next Friday, Dec. 9. Hop on the free Emerald City Trolley at designated stops (marked by A-Boards) along Phinney and Greenwood avenues between 59th and 87th streets. More than 30 venues are participating in the Artwalk. As a bonus, wear your best Ugly Christmas Sweater and score discounts at participating pubs and restaurants as part of the “monkey crawl.” Free parking for PhinneyWood Phesitivus is available at the Zoo’s north parking lot at 59th and Phinney and at the Phinney Center at 67th and Phinney. You can find out more about the monkeys and neighborhood holiday activities on MonkeyWood.

Join neighbors for a Christmas meal at the Greenwood Senior Center, 525 N. 85th St., at 12 p.m. Dec. 25. RSVP by Dec. 16 to 206-297-0875. Free but donations are welcome.

Christmas tree lots:

  • The Christmas tree sale to benefit Noel House Shelter Programs for Homeless Women is back at St. John Catholic Church at 80th and Greenwood on the school playground from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. this Saturday (Dec. 3) and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 4).
  • Ballard Boy Scout Troop & Crew 100 is selling trees at their lot next to St. Alphonsus’ parking lot on 15th Avenue NW by Ballard Market. Fresh trees are delivered twice a week. Scouts will man the lot rain or shine from 1-9 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday & Sunday.
