City offering pet license amnesty until Oct. 31

by | Oct 13, 2016

The City of Seattle is offering pet owners an amnesty for not licensing their pets. Late renewal fees and citations for expired animal licenses will be suspended until Oct. 31.
Pet owners can purchase or renew pet licenses online, by mail or in person at Seattle Animal Shelter, 2061 15th Ave. W., or at the city’s customer service centers.
Pet license fees support the Seattle Animal Shelter’s work of rescuing, rehabilitating and adopting out pets, plus criminal investigation of animal cruelty and spay and neuter services. Pet license tags provide the pet’s license number so if they’re lost, a good Samaritan can call the shelter to find out the owner.
In Seattle, owners must license all cats, dogs, miniature goats and potbellied pigs. One-year license fees:

  • Cats: $22 (altered) and $33 (unaltered)
  • Dogs: $30 (altered) and $51 (unaltered)
  • Goats: $20
  • Pigs: $120 for the first year, $30 each subsequent year
