Celebrate the autumnal equinox with luminaria at Green Lake on Wednesday

by | Sep 20, 2016

The Fremont Arts Council is hosting an autumnal equinox celebration at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Green Lake Boat House on the south end of the lake.

The event is free, but hand-made lanterns will be available for sale. All proceeds benefit the Fremont Arts Council. Participants are encouraged to bring drums, instruments, costumes, lighted umbrellas and any other type of lights (no fire or flames allowed).

Many traditions around the world recognize the last days of summer, the waning of the light, and the transition into the darker, more introspective time of autumn and winter. Lanterns represent our spirit as a community that will sustain us through the cold months.
