Community meeting Feb. 3 on expanding backyard cottages throughout the city

by | Jan 13, 2016

The city’s Office of Planning and Community Development and Councilmember Mike O’Brien are co-hosting two community meetings on Backyard Cottages. The meeting closest to our neighborhood is from 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at the Wallingford Community Senior Center, 4649 Sunnyside Ave. N.

The purpose of these meetings is to get public input on potential land use code changes that would encourage greater production of backyard cottages (also called detached accessory dwelling units or DADUs). CM Mike O’Brien and staff from the Office of Planning & Community Development will be available to discuss idea and questions on a range of potential code changes we are exploring in anticipation of legislation to be drafted in late February and early March.
