Northwest Chamber Chorus and Concord Chamber Choir perform March 15

Northwest Chamber Chorus and Concord Chamber Choir will perform the Frank Martin Mass for Double Choir at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, at Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church, 7500 Greenwood Ave. N. Tickets are $22 general, $17 senior citizens; $12 students and singers. Children ages 6-12 are admitted free with an accompanying adult. Purchase tickets online or by calling 206-523-1196.

The highly regarded 40-voice Northwest Chamber Chorus under Music Director Mark Kloepper combines forces with the Eastside-based Concord Chamber Choir to present Frank Martin’s deeply spiritual masterpiece, the Mass for Double Choir, written early in the 20th century and not performed until 1963.

Also on the program are performances by each participating choir. Northwest Chamber Chorus performs Amen by Henryk Górecki, McKay from The Sacred Harp, arranged by Carol Barnett, Ain’t No Grave Can Hold My Body Down traditional spiritual arranged by Paul Caldwell and Sean Ivory, Carpe Diem by Portland composer Joan Szymco, commissioned in honor of the NWCC’s 40th Anniversary in 2008.

Concord Chamber Choir performs Alleluia and I Will Lift Mine Eyes by Jake Runestad, O Sacrum Convivium by Olivier Messiaen, Hymn to the Eternal Flame by Stephen Paulus, Baba Yetu by Christopher Tin, Ain’t That good News and I Can Tell the World traditional spirituals arranged by Moses Hogan.
