NW District Council meets Wednesday with City Councilmember Burgess, and talks police reform

The Northwest District Council meets from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Greenwood Senior Center, 525 N. 85th St.
On the agenda:

  • Chat with City Councilmember Tim Burgess, chair of the Government Performance and Finance Committee, Labor Relations Policy Committee and Special Committee on Budget.
  • Police Reform – Betsy Graef , Director, Seattle Community Police Commission – “The Community Police Commission (CPC) was created to provide a vehicle for community input into the police reform process now underway as part of the settlement agreement with the US Department of Justice. The CPC has been working over the last few months to develop policy recommendations in a number of areas, specifically bias-free policing, stops and detentions, and in-car video recordings. The CPC must report back to the parties to the agreement by November 15th on these policy areas. Prior to finalizing its recommendations, it is seeking community input.”
