99 Monkeys toy resale store opening in Phinney

March 28th, 2012 · Comments

99 Monkeys (RE)Pack and Play Toys is opening at 7104 Greenwood Ave. N. next month. The store’s concept is to take previously-owned children’s toys and repackage them in eco-friendly packaging. Sometimes groups of similar toys are packaged together in new sets.

The shop’s name is inspired by “The 100th Monkey” story, which details how if enough people begin to make different decisions, a new paradigm emerges. The store is using that story as a means to promote its earth-friendly, reusable concept.

99 Monkeys also will be home to Green Bananas Drop-In Art Care, an art-based babysitting service for children ages 2-1/2 through 5. Children can be dropped off for up to four hours. They will get to play with all kinds of art supplies, led by an experienced instructor. Each week the instructors will focus on a different artist or classic fairy tale as inspiration for an art project that children can take home. The cost is $9.50 an hour for the first child, $6.50 an hour for each additional child.

99 Monkeys’ grand opening party is set for 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, with free art projects and snacks.
