‘Green Halloween’ fun run and kids dash at Woodland Park to benefit Bagley Elementary

by | Oct 8, 2010

Daniel Bagley Elementary in Green Lake is holding a “Green Halloween” 5K Fun Run and 1K Kids’ Dash on Oct. 31 at Lower Woodland Park. Proceeds from the event will help the school pay for a field to replace the current, mostly asphalt, school yard.
This is from Bagley parent Mary Park:

Right now our playfields are a huge expanse of knee-skinning, environmentally unfriendly asphalt. We’re raising money to make this space a safer place for kids by replacing much of the existing asphalt with 10,000 square feet of grass, 5,000 square feet of trees and native plantings, some new “pervious” asphalt, and a running track around the perimeter.

Costumes are encouraged for the run, and there will be prizes for the top three overall female and male finishers, top three elementary female and male finishers, and best costume in both the 1K and 5K races. The 5K race begins at 9:30 a.m. on Halloween, and the 1K race begins at 9 a.m.
