Plenty of yoga options around here

by | Sep 6, 2009

With 8 Limbs Yoga (a PhinneyWood sponsor) moving into the Fini condos building on Greenwood and 68th in November, we’ve received a number of emails from folks who wanted to remind us that there are several other fabulous yoga and pilates places in Phinney and Greenwood.
Phinney Yoga House (in the Phinney Center’s brick building, 6615 Dayton Ave. N.) houses both Phinney Ridge Yoga (Kripalu, Viniyoga, Integral Yoga, and early morning Pilates classes), and Yoga Momma (pre- and post-natal, as well as yoga for parents and kids ages 3-6).
NW Community Yoga, at 701 NW 70th St., has instructors with a wide range of experience and styles, including a former Buddhist monk.
Whole Life Yoga, at 8551 Greenwood Ave. N., has been voted best yoga studio a number of times, and teaches a wide range of classes, including pre- and post-natal.
Vitality Pilates, at 7216 Greenwood Ave. N., offers small Group Reformer Classes and private lessons.
InsideOut yoga is run out of a cozy house at 8016 Dayton Ave. N. It offers yoga and meditation for all ages, including children.
Jennifer Abel runs Able Bodied Yoga, which provides public and private classes (she also teaches at NW Community Yoga and will sub at the new 8 Limbs). Abel also is the co-author of the book “Metamorphosis,” a fun look at the inspiration behind many yoga poses’ animal names such as crane, cobra, and downward facing dog. (We profiled her back in March.) Locally, the book is available at Santoro’s.
Please let us know if we missed any yoga/pilates studios in Phinney/Greenwood. And put a note in comments to tell everyone who’s your favorite yoga instructor, and why.
